Purpose of Technology
Intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) is an advanced type of conformal radiation therapy for anal, rectal, and other cancers in which computer software modulates the radiation dose so that the tumor field receives a higher, and potentially more effective, dose and surrounding healthy tissues and organs have minimal exposure.
